How Meta Ads connections work for artists

A simple explanation of company administration, artist-owned assets, campaign approval and who pays Meta.

The company connection and the artist connection have different jobs

Amplune needs a Meta business and developer setup so its software can request official permissions and create campaigns through Meta’s API. A real company administrator manages that setup through their genuine Facebook identity.

The artist connects the Facebook Page, Instagram professional account and ad account they are authorized to use. That permission lets the software act on selected business assets without receiving the artist’s Facebook password.

What the company must create first

Create a Meta Business Portfolio for Amplune, then create a Business-type app in Meta for Developers. Add Facebook Login for Business, the production OAuth callback shown in the product setup, a privacy policy, terms, and data-deletion instructions. Keep the app secret only on the server.

Before public launch, complete the organization and developer verification Meta requests, then submit the permissions used by the product for App Review and Advanced Access. The planned connection requests ads management and reporting, business asset discovery, Page discovery and basic linked Instagram identity access.

  • Real Facebook profile for the company administrator
  • Meta Business Portfolio
  • Meta developer app
  • Verified company domain and legal URLs
  • OAuth redirect URI
  • Business verification and App Review
  • Test artist and test assets while the app is in development mode

What each artist needs

The artist signs in with their real Facebook profile, but the ads do not run from that personal profile. The profile is the secure identity Meta uses to confirm access to the selected business assets.

The artist needs a Facebook Page, an ad account with a valid payment method and permission to manage both. For Instagram placements using their Instagram identity, they also need an Instagram professional account linked to the selected Page.

The artist keeps ownership and billing

The recommended structure keeps the ad account and advertising payment method under the artist or their authorized business. Meta charges advertising spend to that account. The product subscription is a separate payment to the software company through Stripe.

This separation prevents different artists’ budgets, audiences and billing records from being mixed inside one personal advertising account.

  • Artist owns or controls the ad account
  • Artist selects the Page and Instagram identity
  • Meta charges the artist’s advertising payment method
  • Amplune manages only the permissions the artist approved

Draft, publish paused, then activate

First build a campaign draft with the release destination, creative, countries, ages and daily limit. Publishing creates the campaign, ad set, creative and ad in paused mode. Paused means the structure exists in Meta but cannot spend.

The artist reviews the destination, identity, audience, creative and budget before choosing Activate. That explicit final action is the point at which Meta may begin delivery and spending.

What the numbers mean

Meta reports delivery metrics such as spend, impressions, clicks and landing-page views. Campaign links include consistent tracking parameters so results can be compared with visits and music-link actions outside Meta.

Attribution is not perfect and no campaign can guarantee streams, saves or followers. Use the results to compare creative and markets, then make the next controlled decision.
